I say no to Carolina#6
It was recently brought to my attention that I seem to like an awful lot of things and that there never seems to be a bad review. How could that be possible? Is everything that I try so great? NO!!! Normally if I try something and I don’t like it I will just choose not to mention it. It’s a bad habit that I have picked up. I have what is commonly known as the disease to please and the desire to not say something unless it’s nice.
Well in thinking about that I have decided that it really isn’t fair or helpful. Because by not mentioning an item that has failed me or generally sucked; I have in essence shortchanged someone else. Perhaps by writing about a product that wasn’t so great I could have not only helped someone make a better decision but also I could have helped them save a buck or two.
Well such is the case of the barbeque sauce I made the mistake of purchasing over the weekend. I am not sure how many of you are familiar with Guy Fieri. He is a cook that has a show on Food Network, plus restaurants as well as has authored cookbooks. Plus recently his restaurant in midtown Manhattan (Guy’s American Kitchen & Bar), received a scathing review from the NY Times. Sorry to rehash that review and although it was truly harsh it was of the best things that I have ever read. The writer Pete Wells was brilliant. But I digress.
Anyway, the sauce was on sale so I figured why not give it a try. The taste was a combination of sour limes and vinegar…horrible! I am not sure who was involved in taste testing this thing but I was sorely disappointed. As pictured above there are four flavors and I tried the Carolina#6. Now there might be some of you out there who may go for this and that’s ok we have different taste. But for the rest I say save your money.
